There are channels in the columns. To fit a new accessory one must follow the steps below:

1 - remove the column cap 

2 - place the sliding nut of the new accessory in the channel

3 - set it at the desired height

4 - fasten the screws

5 - make sure the accessory is fixed well

6 - place back the column cap
